The Georgia Department of Driver Services and the Georgia Department of Corrections are working with returning citizens upon their release from incarceration by providing a State Identification Card or renewing their State Driver’s License. Providing returning citizens with proper identification will greatly increase their chances of success on parole or probation by making their re-entry process easier. Proper identification will assist a returning citizen with obtaining employment and housing in their community. Returning citizens who have a current and valid record with the Georgia
Department of Driver Services can have a State identification card or State Driver’s License reissued upon their release. Returning citizens who do not have a current and valid record with the Georgia Department of Driver Services will be assisted by the Georgia Department of Driver Services to obtain the proper documentation to obtain a State ID issuance.
