About Michael Kennedy McIntyre & Associates
As the founding attorney of Michael Kennedy McIntyre & Associates, Michael Kennedy McIntyre has served as the firm’s lead counsel for over three decades. In this position, he has leveraged his extensive legal expertise to provide postconviction representation aimed at both protecting the rights of clients and, when possible, helping them negotiate a path to release. Additionally, Mr. McIntyre has built a team of professionals with legal experience and knowledge of the Georgia State Parole Board. Mr. McIntyre works with this team to devise the best strategy for each client whether facing the board or negotiating postconviction challenges. During his work, he has twice handled cases before the Supreme Court, serving as lead counsel on death penalty cases seeking to either halt or postpone executions. In both cases, he helped secure 9 to 0 rulings in favor of his clients. In one case, the Court ruled that the method of execution was inappropriate, halting an execution hours before it was scheduled. In Dobbs vs. Zant the Court reversed an Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals decision to refuse to consider a 15-year-old sentencing transcript. After the transcript was reviewed, the death sentence was vacated.
